Blackberry / Chocolate / Honey

Description:

El Oso Peru, a coffee that brings together rich sweetness and vibrant fruit. Expect comforting notes of blackberry, chocolate and honey, creating a beautifully balanced cup that's equally approachable and complex. Roasted as a versatile omni roast, El Oso shines as a sweet, juicy filter while producing a rich, syrupy espresso with layers of fruit and chocolate.

Grown between 1,350–1,890 masl in the San Ignacio region of Peru, the El Oso Project is produced by members of Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio. The project was established to help protect the forests surrounding the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe, a vital habitat for endangered spectacled bears and other native wildlife. Working with organic farming methods, producers actively restore native forests, improve biodiversity and cultivate coffee in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

Alongside conservation efforts, the cooperative invests in quality-focused infrastructure, including solar drying tents, improved fermentation equipment, composting facilities and its own dry mill. Regular farmer training and sustainable farming practices ensure exceptional consistency while reducing environmental impact, resulting in a clean, sweet washed coffee that reflects both the region's unique terroir and the project's commitment to protecting it.

Our Coffee

Coffee is one of the world’s most complex and diverse agricultural commodities, cultivated in some of the most remote and beautiful regions on the planet. From the moment it’s planted to the final brew in your cup, every stage of the coffee journey matters. At Coaltown, we work directly with producers at origin, building strong, long-term relationships that support quality, sustainability, and mutual growth.

Our commitment to direct trade means we’re actively forging partnerships that go beyond standard certifications. We proudly pay above Fairtrade prices, ensuring that farmers are properly rewarded for their craft and empowered to invest back into their land and communities.
