HAY FESTIVAL X COALTOWN H Van

HAY Festival - Thursday 25 May 2023 – Sunday 4 June 2023

One of the world's biggest and best literary festivals happens every year in late spring in the little borders town of Hay-on-Wye.

We are proud to join the Hay Festival and be part of this inspiring global conversation. As a Specialty Coffee Roastery in the heart of Wales, we are delighted to bring our unique range of delicious coffees to this event, inviting audiences to discover new ideas through the lens of a cup of coffee. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our community.

The festival was founded in 1988 by Peter Florence and his parents Rhoda and Norman. Hay-on-Wye was already well known for its many bookshops before the festival was launched. Richard Booth opened his first shop there in 1962, and by the 1970s Hay had gained the nickname "The Town of Books".

The 10-day festival is the largest festival of its kind in the world and brings in thousands of people from all over the world.

500 of the world's leading writers and artists have gathered together in 650 events to celebrate the power of creativity and expression. The perfect opportunity for the world's leading writers and artists to come together and share their stories and work and to also discuss their thoughts, and inspire others. From book readings and film screenings, to workshops and exhibitions, these events provide a unique opportunity to observe first-hand the creative brilliance of some of the world's most talented people.

By attending, you can gain insight into the creative process, network with like-minded individuals, and be part of a community of artistic thinkers. Whether you're a writer, artist, or simply a fan of creativity, these events offer a unique chance to learn and grow. Between sessions, visitors can relax in deckchairs on the village green, browse the stalls and visit a festival bookshop which stocks 55,000 titles by visiting speakers. Evenings are devoted to music, comedy and film.

The Citroen H Van is Coaltown’s Specialty Espresso Bar on wheels, where people can come and enjoy our freshly roasted coffee, cold drinks and cocktails while taking in the sights and sounds of the festival.
