Introducing: Pitchfork & Provision

Tucked just off the gentle rhythm of Llandeilo’s main street, Pitchfork & Provision is one of those places that feels both quietly rooted and full of life, as if it’s always been there. Whether you wander in from the car park entrance or step through from the town road, there’s an immediate sense that you’ve arrived exactly where you’re meant to be, a space that welcomes you with the smell of warm, freshly baked bread and a big smile from staff and regulars.

At its heart is Founder Rachel, whose presence seems to shape everything you experience here. There’s a natural ease to the atmosphere that feels genuine rather than curated and it starts the moment you walk through the door. The light is the first thing you notice, a soft, generous brightness pouring in from skylights and wide windows, filling the space and bouncing gently off every surface. Step out into the south-facing courtyard and it feels even more pronounced, especially in spring when everything seems to be quietly showing off. Potted herbs line the space, not just for decoration but for use in the kitchen, blurring that line between growing and serving in a way that feels honest and connected.

Inside, the warmth continues. The space feels open yet comforting, with a quiet, understated energy that comes from people who genuinely care about what they create. The walls are lined with work by Welsh artists, dried flower wreaths and notices of local happenings, giving the room a lived-in, community feel. The team carry that spirit effortlessly, welcoming and attentive, always present without ever hovering.

The food is deeply seasonal, guided by what’s best right now. One visit might bring wild garlic, walnut and asparagus pastries; the next, something sweeter and more unexpected, like tropical fruit cruffins, each baked with as much curiosity as skill. There are plenty of hot options too, from a locally inspired breakfast to the quiche of the day served with seasonal salads. The menu is always evolving, yet never at the expense of quality or intention.

Bread plays its own quiet but essential role. Fresh sourdough and daily bakes sit proudly on display, filling the space with that unmistakable comforting scent. Alongside it, a deli that feels abundant without being overwhelming, shelves lined with oils, cheeses, olives, crisps and locally sourced produce, each piece chosen with care. It’s the kind of place where you go in for one thing and leave with five, not out of impulse but because everything feels worth taking home.

And then there’s the coffee, not just an addition, but a finishing touch that elevates the whole experience. Each cup feels considered, balanced and beautifully executed, like a small piece of craft in its own right. It’s the kind of coffee that quietly holds its own alongside everything else, tying the experience together without demanding attention.

Just a stone’s throw from our Ammanford roastery, Pitchfork & Provision feels like a natural neighbour in more ways than one. There’s a shared sense of care, of attention to detail, of wanting to do things properly. Rachel, originally from Betws, has recently expanded that vision with the opening of their main bakery in Betws too, a move that feels like a natural extension of everything they’ve already built. It’s a space that leaves an impression not because it tries to, but because it simply does things well. Warmth, light, seasonality and care all working quietly together. We’re already looking forward to what’s next, especially the next, new seasonal cake collaboration. Summer can’t come soon enough.
