Supporting Our Community: Bloom Coffee & the Jac Lewis Foundation

At Coaltown Coffee, we’ve always believed that coffee is more than just a drink, it’s a way to connect communities, growing people and bringing industry back to post industrial mining towns. In 2026, we’re introducing a new initiative: for every 200g box of our seasonal coffees sold, we will donate £1 to a local charity, choosing a new charity each season. And for every 1 kilo bag of coffee sold, £4 will be donated. This initiative is about giving back and helping to make a meaningful difference.

Our first seasonal coffee of the year is Bloom, inspired by the freshness and lightness of spring. Bloom celebrates growth and renewal that comes with brighter days and we wanted a charity partner that embodies these same values. From the very beginning, the Jac Lewis Foundation has been an organisation we’ve admired. The Jac Lewis Foundation was formed in 2019 following the sudden loss of Jac, a moment that deeply affected the Ammanford community. From that grief, a powerful collective determination arose: to reduce the impact of mental health struggles and prevent the loss of another member of the community to suicide. That community passion laid the foundation for the charity’s work across Wales.

The Jac Lewis Foundation’s mission is to create an environment where mental health is openly discussed and individuals feel empowered to seek help and support. They tackle stigma, provide easily accessible professional wellbeing and mental health services and train community members to become wellbeing mentors, building resilience across communities. Their work strengthens not only individuals but also the networks of care and support that help communities thrive.

We feel a natural synergy between the Jac Lewis Foundation’s mission and the purpose behind Bloom. Just as Bloom celebrates growth and light, the foundation supports people to grow and recover. By partnering with them, we hope that every bag of Bloom coffee sold will contribute to a stronger, healthier and more resilient local community.

We’re proud to be a local company with a love of coffee, but more than that, we’re proud to be part of communities that care for one another. Through this partnership with the Jac Lewis Foundation, we hope to bring a little more light, support and positivity into the world.
