Standing proudly on a beautiful nature reserve and the expansive slopes of the active Tacana volcano, Finca Muxbal lives up to its name, which translates from the local Mame dialect to ‘place surrounded by clouds’. It is a farm that is run by a mother and son team who work by following three principles: social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and the production of high quality coffee.
These principles are evident in every aspect of the farm; from the housing that is provided to the people who work the land, to the well-equipped school that serves the children of the farm’s workers. Equally, the rich and fertile volcanic soil and the meticulous care that is given to harvesting their crop lead to fascinating complexities in the resulting coffee. We have roasted it lightly to accentuate its papaya notes, caramel sweetness and buttery body.
